About

Hi, I'm Austin. I live in Greenville, SC with my wife, my kids, and a bike collection that my wife thinks is one bike too many.

I've been cycling most of my life — raced, logged stupid-long miles, showed up to group rides way too serious for someone who was about to get dropped on the first climb. These days my riding looks a little different. I still do the occasional race and long Saturday morning hammerfest with friends, but most of my saddle time is commuting to work or hauling kids on the cargo bike like a very sweaty school bus.

I wouldn't trade it.

This site exists because I got tired of the cycling internet being for one type of rider. Everything is either "here's how to shave 12 watts" or "cycling is a lifestyle, buy this $300 jersey." Nobody's really talking to the guy who used to be fast, is now fine with that, and just wants to ride his bike to work without looking like he raided a pro team's discard bin.

So that's what Dadbike is. Gear I've actually used. Honest takes on commuting. A community for riders who love bikes but have also accepted that the school drop-off line is now part of their training route.

And yeah — I'm making shorts. Not cycling shorts — just normal shorts that happen to work great on a bike. Nice enough for date night. Comfortable enough for an all-day ride with the kids. No chamois, no logos, no averted gazes at school drop-off.

Glad you're here.
